DGE3 upsizes FOTOhub Seed tranche to $3.8M - total commitment reaches $9.9M as company crosses $10.1M raised

DGE3 Investment today confirms the upsizing of FOTOhub's second Seed tranche from $2.3 million to $3.8 million, an additional $1.5 million deployed on top of the amount we announced at the end of June. The move lifts DGE3's total commitment to FOTOhub to $9.9 million across two Seed rounds, and brings FOTOhub's total capitalization, combining our capital with earlier support from Amazon Web Services and the founder's own angel commitment, to $10.1 million. With this tranche now closed, we are opening the next chapter: a dedicated expansion tranche built to fund FOTOhub's push into new markets and a deeper build-out of the platform.

The upsize: why we added $1.5 million to the follow-on tranche

When we announced the $2.3 million follow-on at the end of June, we described it as a response to a company outperforming its own eighteen-month plan in four months. That trajectory did not level off over the following month. It steepened. Enterprise conversations that were in early diligence in June had signed by late July. Cohorts we modeled conservatively at Seed continued to retain and expand well above the ranges we underwrote. Our investment committee reviewed the updated operating data in mid-July and reached the same conclusion it reached in June, only stronger: capital should follow evidence, not a calendar.

We returned to FOTOhub's founder, Mateusz Ulewicz, with a straightforward proposition: increase the tranche size rather than wait for a formal Series A process to catch up with the company's actual growth rate. Both sides agreed the additional $1.5 million should be committed on the same terms as the original follow-on, closing the tranche at $3.8 million rather than opening a new instrument. FOTOhub did not need a new negotiation. It needed more of what was already working.

Total DGE3 commitment: $9.9 million across two Seed tranches

With the upsize finalized, DGE3's cumulative investment in FOTOhub now stands at $9.9 million, split across two Seed rounds:

  • $6.1 million, the original Seed round closed in February 2026 alongside co-investors Ladislav Mazak and Jarek K.
  • $3.8 million, the follow-on Seed tranche closed in June 2026 and upsized this week from its initial $2.3 million

This is, by a wide margin, the largest position DGE3 has ever built in a single portfolio company. We do not reach that scale casually. Every dollar of the upsize passed through the same underwriting discipline we apply to a first check: cohort retention, unit economics, enterprise pipeline quality, and execution risk. FOTOhub cleared all four with room to spare.

FOTOhub's full capitalization: $10.1 million

DGE3's $9.9 million sits alongside earlier support from Amazon Web Services and a founder-led angel round, bringing FOTOhub's total funding to $10.1 million across five rounds:

Five rounds in seven months is an unusually fast capitalization curve for a Seed-stage company. It reflects a founder who backed his own product with a personal angel check before any institutional money arrived, a cloud partner willing to put grant capital behind the platform's infrastructure, and a lead investor, DGE3, willing to write four checks into the same thesis in under half a year. That pattern of conviction compounding on itself is rare, and it is exactly what we look for when we decide how much capital a company deserves.

Closing this round, opening the next one

With the upsized tranche now closed, DGE3 is formally closing FOTOhub's Seed program. What opens next is a dedicated expansion tranche aimed at a different mandate: not proving the product works, that question is settled, but funding the international footprint, infrastructure, and headcount FOTOhub needs to defend and extend its category lead.

We expect this next tranche to bring in additional institutional capital alongside DGE3, and we are opening conversations now with growth-stage funds and strategic partners in the AI infrastructure space who want to participate. The Seed capital proved the thesis. The expansion tranche is designed to scale it.

Where the capital goes

The combined $9.9 million from DGE3 is earmarked across three priorities that the founding team and our own diligence identified as the binding constraints on FOTOhub's growth:

  • International expansion. DACH and the United Kingdom in the second half of 2026, MENA in the fourth quarter through DGE3's Abu Dhabi office, and North America in early 2027, sequenced to match where organic demand is already strongest.
  • Infrastructure. Scaling FOTOcore, the orchestration layer that routes requests across FOTOhub's 200-plus integrated AI models, to handle throughput several multiples above current peak load.
  • Team. Continued hiring toward a 35-person engineering organization, concentrated in ML infrastructure, enterprise product, and country-level growth leadership.

FOTOhub by the numbers

The metrics underlying this decision have not moved in the wrong direction since our last update, they have kept compounding:

  • 750,000+ registered users, with paid acquisition still under 10% of signups
  • MRR up 4.2x since the original Seed closed in February 2026
  • Paid conversion at 9.5%, roughly double the category benchmark of 3 to 5%
  • Net revenue retention above 145%
  • Five signed enterprise contracts across Europe and the Gulf, four months after Seed

A company that keeps producing numbers like these while we are still deploying the capital from its previous round is precisely the kind of company that earns a larger check before the next scheduled fundraise, rather than after it.

A founder the market is starting to notice

The capital story is only half of what has changed this summer. Mateusz Ulewicz, FOTOhub's founder and CTO, has continued to climb Crunchbase's global CB Rank (Person), the algorithmic ranking that scores the more than 2.1 million founders, operators, and investors tracked on the platform by momentum, ecosystem signal, and company performance. Since our last update, when Mateusz held the 8th position globally, he has moved up five places to 3rd, trailing only Micky Irons of Mickai in 1st and Enrico Thanhoffer of Van Kaemis in 2nd. Directly behind him in 4th is Guillermo Rauch, founder and CEO of Vercel, one of the most recognized infrastructure companies in modern software.

A founder based in Bydgoszcz, Poland now sits three places from the very top of a global ranking of over two million people, ahead of operators running some of the best known companies in the world. That is not a coincidence tied to one metric. It is the compounding effect of a product growing the way FOTOhub is growing, a capitalization table that keeps deepening, and a founder whose execution record, twenty years across Nokia, AWS, and government-sector systems, keeps showing up in the underlying signals Crunchbase's algorithm was built to detect.

"We do not upsize a tranche by $1.5 million lightly, and we do not say this often: FOTOhub has been the best performing thesis in DGE3's history, and Mateusz Ulewicz's climb to the 3rd position globally on Crunchbase is the market confirming what our own numbers have told us since February. We are closing this Seed program from a position of strength, and opening the next one to make sure capital is never the constraint on how far this company can go."
